An Agribusiness firm that is mainly into large scale food crop Production and marketing has added processing (value addition) to her core functions. The company is a quality driven supplier, providing raw maize, raw soya bean as well as processed maize and soya beans to the Ghanaian and West African market and beyond. As a result of the scale up and expansion in operations, vacancies exist for qualified individuals (team players) to assist in executing the agenda of the new direction of the organisation.

PROCESSING PLANT SUPERVISOR – (1 slot)
The Plant Supervisor has accountability for and directs continuous improvement activities in overall plant operations. He/She will ensure the achievement of safety, quality, efficiency, and customer service objectives at the lowest cost consistent with customer delivery requirements.

The successful candidate will be responsible for running and monitoring equipment, maintaining a safe working environment as well as other tasks delegated by management staff.

  • Reports to: Project Manager
  • Employees to be supervised: 1 – 50

ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Run, monitor, and maintain grains cleaning, processing, and milling machinery.
  • Lead the plant in work force planning, sourcing and talent development to foster a high performing team.
  • Maintain all safety rules, Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs), and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) in accordance with the company policies and procedures.
  • Prioritize, schedule and delegate work assignments and directly supervise the plant staff to ensure the safe achievement of production objectives within budget cost while meeting quality and customer requirements.
  • Set strategy, KPIs, and deliverables for continuous improvement in safety, quality, and efficiency.
  • Review production costs and product quality; modify production and inventory control programs to maintain and enhance profitable operation of division.
  • Develop plans for the maximum utilization of materials, machines, and employees and the use of raw material inventory to ensure operation standardization and optimization in regards to KPI’s, yield, and over all Equipment Effectiveness (OEE).
  • Work closely with the Quality Assurance (QA)/Quality Control (QC) technician/officer to exceed plant and finished products quality requirements.
  • Use Root Cause Analysis (RCA), Failure Mode and Equipment Analysis (FMEA), and Fishbone to prevent future or recurring failures in systems.
  • Steadfast adherence to all safety requirements at all times while instilling a culture of “safety first” throughout the department and ensuring all operations personnel adhere to all safety criteria.
  • Ensure compliance with all quality, safety and sanitation regulations.
  • Complete all reports and data collection forms in a timely manner.
  • Previous experience working in a High Performance Work Place (HPWP) preferred.
  • Must have well developed strategic thinking abilities.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Required Skills or Experience

  • Experience in milling is an advantage.
  • A bachelor degree in Mechanical engineering/HND Mechanical engineering(plant option) or Equivalent, milling science, food science, business, or related field.
  • Four years overall related manufacturing experience; two years in a leadership and supervisory capacity in a dry processing plant including developing and growing team members resulting in high-levels of employee satisfaction and engagement.
  • Comfortable operating a range of equipment of different sizes and throughput
  • Computer, Internet and Microsoft Office suite skills
  • Experience working hands on in a manufacturing facility.
  • Experience managing operating budgets and plant CapEx programs.
  • Age limit for all: 23-45 years.
