The Ndoum School of Business and Technology,NSB&T, as part of the Ndoum University system, having been granted Authorisation by the National Accreditation Board and aspiring to be  affiliated to the University of Cape Coast is seeking individuals with the requisite qualification, experience and drive to be part of the team to deliver quality and relevant education that hinges on innovation, leadership,practical training, skills development and principles of long life learning.

Job Description

Reports To: Rector
Job Family: Education

Purpose:

  • The Job holder shall be the head of the University Library and shall manage, organize, evaluate and disseminate information, providing support to members of the university including students, researchers and lecturing staff

Essential Duties:

  • Developing and managing collections of books and journals (both paper and electronic), as well as websites
  • Establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with academic staff and students
  • Contributing to academic course development and liaising with academic departments
  • Coordinating and delivering information and digital literacy sessions to staff and students
  • Creating, updating and managing electronic and printed information resources
  • Selecting, acquiring and cataloging information using library and information software;
  • Assisting researchers with literature searches using databases, printed resources and the internet
  • Managing and supporting the provision of reading lists and allocating length of loans of the library’s property
  • Dealing with user enquiries, which may involve one-on-one advice sessions
  • Dealing with budgets in relation to designated subject areas/departments and, in some cases, purchasing resources;
  • Maintaining relationships with external bodies, such as suppliers;
  • Managing furniture and equipment in the Library;

The above duties and responsibilities are representative of the nature and level of work assigned and are not necessarily all-inclusive. Management reserves the right to assign and change responsibilities to meet business and organizational needs as necessary.

Working Conditions: May require long hours at certain period

Required Skills or Experience

  • A Master of Science (Librarianship or Information Management and Retrieval)
  • A Ph.D. in Librarianship or Information Management and Retrieval shall be an advantage.
  • Minimum of 5years relevant experience in an academic environment

Skills and Abilities:

  • Excellent customer service and interpersonal skills;
  • Strong ICT skills;
  • Good communication, negotiation and presentation skills; a flexible approach to work
  • A good team player
  • Capability to prioritize work and meet deadlines;
  • Excellent organizational and self-management skills;
  • An appreciation of the pressures and demands within the academic work environment.
  • Must have in depth, high value for research
