A leading International development organization specialized in the promotion of  sustainable supply chains (cocoa, oil palm, soy & cotton, maize and gold) is seeking  to recruit highly skilled and results oriented persons to fill the under listed positions. The organization has its regional office in Accra, Ghana and country programmes in Mali, Senegal, Cote D’Ivoire, Nigeria and Cameroon.  The NGO together with producer organizations, private companies, brands, communities and governments work to create initiatives for sustainable trade in which environmental and social costs of production systems are avoided.

MAIN FUNCTION
The candidate is responsible for the effective integration of gender and specific youth needs into a youth focused cocoa initiative. She/he would provide cross commodity support on gender inclusion and mainstreaming in all of the organization’s projects and programmes.

The candidate will be part of all progamme development and ensure that gender and youth problems are well analyzed and systematically featured in goals and objectives of programmes as well as in the M&E and Learning framework.

The position will develop principles and process for the establishment and management of youth alumni groups for the cocoa academy graduates. The candidate will ensure that vibrant youth network is maintained and sustained as units for mentoring and further capacity development of other youth groups not directly impacted by the programme.

KEY TASKS & RESPONSIBILITIES: 

  1. Oversee the development and implementation of the youth and gender equity and social inclusion strategy, to effectively include gender and social inclusion considerations in all project activities.
  2. Collaborate with project management, design and implement sub-activities to foster understanding of gender and social inclusions concepts
  3. Lead the set up and operations of youth alumni network for graduates from cocoa academies
  4. Lead the planning and execution of annual programmes for a vibrant youth network of alumni groups in the cocoa belt
  5. Analyze and report on program and project progress and ensure that youth and gender program components are results-oriented.
  6. Strengthen service data/monitoring to ensure that youth and gender inequities are tracked and appropriate response strategies are implemented
  7. Guide the mainstreaming of gender and social inclusion in programmes and projects
  8. Ensure that projects targets for gender and social inclusion are met, and provide inputs to project monitoring and evaluation systems including the appropriate use of gender and social inclusion indicators
  9. Support project staff and local implementing partners to incorporate gender based approaches to  program implementation
  10. Any other official duty assigned.​

Required Skills or Experience

TECHNICAL

  • Advanced (at least Masters) degree in sociology, gender and development  or other related fields
  • Minimum of ten (10) years relevant project design, implementation experience with gender focus
  • Knowledgeable in gender and youth related issues ad can demonstrate this clearly.
  • Ability to work collaboratively to achieve results
  • Strong writing and communication skills
  • Excellent command of MS-Office

  • Team player with excellent interpersonal skills
  • Self-motivated , creative and  results oriented
  • Ability to take initiatives and be flexible and adaptable in a changing environment.
  • Ability to multitask and work under pressure
