Our client based in Côte d’Ivoire (Ivory Coast) would like to interview suitable candidates to be considered for the position of Digger Maintenance Supervisor/Trainer.    

Expatriate fly-in-fly-out 2 year contract position on a 6/3 roster with economy flights.

Immediate Manager:  Senior Supervisor.

ROLE PURPOSE:

To maximise equipment availability, utilisation and reliability by supervising crew in the implementation of planned activities, programs and effective breakdown response to meet volumes within approved cost and time or production and safety parameters. Optimise use of equipment within OEM (original equipment manufacturer) capacities & operational performance specifications.

ESSENTIAL:

  • Must have experience in maintaining O & K RH90 & RH120 machines as well as Caterpillar 385 & 330 excavators.
  • Able to diagnose hydraulic system faults as well as maintain equipment systems such as buckets, with regular checks and reports for planned repairs.
  • Experience in monitoring stock of essential spare parts and components as well as liaising with the planning department for schedule of repairs.
  • Able to interpret Oil Analysis results and instigate action plan for repairs to be undertaken to enable maximum equipment availability
  • Capable of undertaking front line management training
  • Excellent communication and mentoring and coaching
  • Open Cut Experience relevant to the area of responsibility
  • Minimum of 4 years’ experience in a supervisory role

ROLE DIMENSIONS

  • Plan, direct and coordinate/supervise crew and associated assets.
  • Delegate responsibilities to authorized personnel within their crew to ensure all equipment is maintained and/or operated in a safe and effective manner within OEM and design specifications
  • Within the area of responsibility, effectively supervise personnel providing support, knowledge, tooling, instructions and monitoring to carry out all tasks in a safe, cost effective and productive manner with high outcome quality and performance standards and in line with Company’s policies and procedures
  • Provide leadership, direction and coordination to ensure priorities are met, expenditure is effectively controlled and improvements projects are implemented to meet department’s short term (shift) target.
  • Implement “Standard Work Procedures”, “Standard Work Instructions” and ensure compliance to Isolation procedures
  • Maintain occupational safety and health standards relevant to operations & ensure issues are considered in all aspects of tasks responsible
  • Maintain high standards of performance and adopt a proactive approach to Health & Safety and personnel issues, personnel performance and competence, and report all observed incidents/accidents or non compliances and recommend or achieve improvements 

TECHNICAL ACCOUNTABILITIES:

  • Planning: analyse short term history and targets (last shift and week to date) and  coordinate all works, activities, programs and resources under area of responsibility
  • Leadership: Provide effective resources leadership to meet targeted outcomes and encourage all to strive as a team in safety, teamwork, quality, volumes,  and improvements
  • Organise: Achieve planned activities organisation by distributing assignments to each crew member by optimising individuals contributions
  • Control: Monitor all crew shift areas of work and accurately report data as required, control quality, volume and resources and equipment utilisation to meet targeted outcomes and reduce cost.
  • Monitor parts and supplies availability directly required for the shift to ensure sufficient notifications of requirements to appropriate support departments.
  • Always strive for continuous improvements within personnel, systems, equipment by identifying and recommending/implementing better ways to complete tasks
  • Ensure that all personnel fulfil statutory responsibilities as assigned by the Area Manager and in accordance with applicable site management plans and statutory legislation and regulations.
  • Direct and delegate all day to day crew activities, programs, projects
  • Ensure that all crew personnel receive appropriate and required training pertaining to position level
  • Investigate all incident/accident or behaviours associated with the crew and complete required reports bringing solutions, plan of improvement and risks elimination
  • This includes action plans and monitoring performance against plans, planning and allocating available resource requirements, and scheduling work to achieve the required work output of the team.
